Do’s and Don’ts of Immunity-Boosting for Children as per Ayurveda

Ayurvedic lifestyle was the way of life even in the ’80s and ’90s. If you go back a few decades, you will notice that children at that time were much stronger. They had a sound immune system that kept them safe from the weather changes and various diseases. The reason that our children today are not much more potent is the dietary choices and lifestyle negligence.

Children learn from observation and therefore if you will make better choices for yourself and them, then they will follow your lead and repeat those choices in their life. Human beings are very delicate when we are in the childhood stage. Strong immunity-boosting for Children at an early age will provide a robust self-defense mechanism for the body. Therefore it becomes essential to know about the do’s and don’ts of Ayurveda and Ayurvedic lifestyle.

Do’s

There are many lifestyles and diet-related choices that you can adopt to make healthy choices. As per ayurvedic guidelines, there are thousands of suggestions that we can do to make our children healthy, but we go through some of them now.

A Sound Sleep

Sleep is essential for children to aid in the development of the body. Ayurveda suggests that a newborn child should sleep at least 18 hours a day. At the same time, toddlers and children below 6 years of age should sleep for 12 and 10 hours, respectively. Parents must make a proper sleep schedule for the children and put them to bed when it is time. It will ensure the appropriate growth of the children.

Breastfeeding for at least 1 year

Mother’s milk composition changes from day 1 to the last day of breastfeeding. According to ayurvedic principles, a mother must breastfeed her child for at least a year after birth. Mother’s milk provides growth hormones that a child requires for growth. Moreover, it is full of antibodies that help the child fight various diseases and viruses.

Protect the child’s digestive system

An upset stomach and bad dietary choices can harm the gut health of the child. Ayurveda suggests that there are three Prakrities in human bodies. Ayurvedic lifestyle can help you balance these Prakrities and maintain a healthy digestive system. Keeping track of the bowel movements of the child can also help you in identifying any irregularities.

Oil Massage

Massaging the child with extra virgin oils that are free from adulteration is recommended by the Ayurveda. Regular massage helps in more robust bone structure and tissue health. It ultimately leads to the overall health of the child’s body. Moreover, it helps in boosting the immunity of the body of a child. It will protect him from infections and viruses in the future.

Ayurvedic dietary choices

The Diet of a child plays a significant role in his health. Ayurveda suggests some food combinations that you can include in the diet like Swarnprashan. It is a mix of immunity-boosting for children ingredients and herbs that is fed to the child. If you feel that the regular diet of the child is not sufficient, then you can also include this in the other foods that you’re already feeding to the children.

Don’ts

Most people don’t even know that what are things they are doing that can harm them. Not having enough knowledge about the Ayurveda and Ayurvedic lifestyle makes them unknowingly opt for the bad habits for their child.

Using more artificial antibiotics

Artificial antibiotics can affect the health of a child adversely. These artificial bodies will do more damage in the long run. In the case when breastfeeding is not possible, then people use cow milk or children formula. These supplements provide nutrients that the body needs. However, they don’t do an excellent job to protect the child from infections.

Introducing junk foods to children

Ayurveda does not promote introducing junk food and preservative rich foods to the children. It affects the overall health and reduces the defense mechanism of the body.

A sedentary lifestyle

Hectic life and the workload are making most of the parents to live a life without many outdoor activities. It hurts your child the most. As per Ayurvedic principles, the initial learning process is based on experiences. When you restrict the learning of the child, then the sedentary lifestyle can affect the health of the child.
