Ayurveda Heath Tips For Winter Season

Our health is probably our most important asset. Its importance is evident in our daily lives. Failing health would mean low levels of productivity and happiness. So it is important to strive for top health every day.

In the winter season, it is equally important to maintain health by practising healthy habits. Winter is a season where it is particularly hard to stay healthy and positive due to the low temperatures, and the tendencies to stay indoors. Fortunately, Ayurveda techniques can be applied in winter periods to achieve these goals through the cold season. Ayurvedic practices have benefits that span across all areas and seasons of life, and these benefits are not absent in the case of winter. The list below points out many ways to use Ayurvedic methods to stay healthy in winter:

  • Stay Warm: This seems like an obvious thing to do during the wintertime. But with Ayurveda, it requires keeping your Kapha in check. Kapha is a phase of the Ayurveda cycle that provides strength and persistence. Given the nature of the winter, the Kapha is important to maintain through the course of the season. So at this time of the year, it is important to stay warm and healthy as well as maintaining a resilient mindset.
  • Consume Ginger: Ginger has plenty of health benefits and one of these benefits is curing colds. Ginger can cure colds in many ways such as bathing with ginger and consumption in the form of tea. In the case of bathing, one-third of ginger powder can be put into a bathtub filled with hot water. Also, a teaspoon of ginger can be put in a kettle of water and heated. After it boils, the water can be inhaled through the nostrils with a cloth placed over the head.
  • Consume Warm Foods: There is a range of foods that can help to stay warm and healthy in winter. Warm tea, warm soup, spicy foods and butter are all examples of these foods. It is also important to consume foods that are healthy for the heart as well as foods rich in protein.
  • Meditation: Meditation can also be applied to staying healthy in winter. When practiced with Pranayama and yoga, meditation can help one to stay focused. It results in a positive and alleviated mind that is important to withstand the sluggishness that winter can bring.

As mentioned earlier, it is important to stay warm all season long. This means wearing appropriate clothing and eating the right food. It is also helpful to observe indoor exercises where possible. The cold season should not limit healthy activity so moderate indoor exercises can also be done to stay warm and keep fit. Maintaining a healthy mind and body by practicing the tips mentioned are enough to increase productivity and stay healthy through the winter.
